Fox Project Awarded $75,000 Grant

Fox Theater a winner in the American Express/National Trust for Historic Preservation Partners in Preservation program

Along with a number of other Bay Area projects, the Fox Theater will receive $75,000 from American Express. This money will go a long way toward the full restoration of the Ticket Booth and other items not included in the current restoration plan.

Work Begins!

The Fox Theater has been fenced off and plastic has been put up as demolition begins. The demolition will remove the damaged parts of the building before restoration can begin. The interior of the Theater itself is in surprisingly good condition. Most of the demolition is taking place in the wraparound building that will be the future home of the Oakland School for the Arts as well as street level businesses.
