Now the Fox Oakland Theater is fully restored, and the results are nothing short of remarkable. That damaged interior is once again a beautiful work of art. The vibrant theater and the lively Oakland School of the Arts are attracting thousands of arts patrons to Oakland. Beyond the historic preservation, the economic impact of the theater is immense. The Fox has created jobs, and attracted new restaurants, small businesses, and urban housing to the Uptown district. In short, the Fox Theater is the center of a renaissance in downtown Oakland.

Restoration of the Oakland Fox Theatre was accomplished through a broad-based community fundraising effort that involved businesses, government, civic organizations and private citizens.  Today, The Fox Theatre shines as an example of community pride and accomplishment -- supporting a vibrant and dynamic arts and entertainment district in Downtown Oakland. Your contribution to Friends of the Oakland Fox ensures that the Fox Theater will be preserved and protected as a live entertainment venue for many years to come.

The Friends of the Oakland Fox Inc. (FOOF), is a nonprofit charitable organization established to preserve the newly restored historic Oakland Fox Theater as a live entertainment venue. As a public benefit it is a tax-exempt 501 C-3, donations to Friends of the Oakland Fox contributions are tax-deductible.

Friends with Benefits Membership Campaign - General Support

End of Year Campaign - General Support
Make the most of your end of year charitable contributions and receive great tax benefits! This annual campaign runs from November to December 31st with contributions supporting the Friends of the Oakland Fox general operations.

 

Corporate Sponsorship
Friends of the Oakland Fox is the public benefit arm of the Fox Theater Complex Project. One important aspect of our program is coordinating and participating in Community Events and Festivals. Sponsorships provide an excellent opportunity for businesses to demonstrate their commitment to the Oakland arts community while receiving a variety of recognition opportunities and tangible marketing benefits.

Matching Gifts
Many companies will match employee contributions and you receive the combined gift recognition level. Please check with your employer for matching gift forms.

Gifts of Stock, Bequests and Real Property
Gifts of stocks are accepted. Stock gifts are credited with their value on the day they are presented to the Foundation. Stock that has appreciated may provide significant capital gains tax savings to the donor. Naming the Friends of the Oakland Fox to receive a gift in your will is another way to provide for the restoration and operation of the Fox. Such a gift leaves a legacy of your generosity for the benefit of future generations. Gifts of real property may be arranged that provide lifetime income to the donor. Unlike a reverse mortgage that has a set number of payments, charitable property gifts can provide for income during the donor's entire lifetime. For married couples, the income continues for the life of the surviving spouse.

In-Kind Donations
Those with special skills, materials and services may be able to help in the creation of the Fox Theater Endowment or the operational and fundraising efforts of Friends of the Oakland Fox. Gifts in-kind are a contribution of materials, services and skills in lieu of a cash contribution. In-kind donations also include items that can be sold or auctioned off at FOOF fundraisers. The Oakland Fox Theatre Endowment Fund

In addition to becoming a Member of Friends of the Oakland Fox by making an annual contribution at the end of the year and joining our Friends with Benefits Program, we encourage you to make a tax-deductible contribution to the Oakland Fox Theater Endowment Fund. Below you will find more information on all of the ways you can give to support the mission of FOOF and more information about the Oakland FoxTheatre Endowment Fund. 

What is the focus of the endowment?
The theater required major funding for its restoration, and it has been worth every penny.  Now, we must make sure our investment is sustainable:  we must build an endowment for the Fox Oakland Theater so that it will always be a source of civic pride and economic stimulus.  Thousands of patrons come in and out of the theater each week.  Hundreds of students use the school facilities each day. All of this wear and tear will eventually require repair.  And we all know the City of Oakland will not likely be in a position to help.

So please help FOOF protect and preserve this new urban icon by contributing to The Fox Oakland Endowment Fund.  In giving to the Fox Oakland Endowment, you are insuring that all future generations will know that we came together despite great odds and achieved something great and meaningful for them and their children and their children’s children.

What is an endowment?
Endowments are permanently invested funds that produce annual income to support a designated program. Funds donated to an endowment are invested, and the earnings on those funds are used to support the program. Endowments are of particular importance because they provide an ongoing source of income for the future, buffering the effects of an unpredictable economy.

Why establish an endowment fund for the Fox Theatre in Oakland?
The preservation of Oakland’s historic Fox Theatre will depend on the Fox Theatre Endowment Fund. Contributions to the endowment fund will help ensure that The Fox never again falls into disrepair or closes its doors again.

How can I support The Fox Theater?
